Since our inaugural celebration on March 2, 2019, 1619NCBW has focused on its commitment to empowering Black women and girls.

This celebration highlights the extraordinary achievements of Black women, recognizing their resilience, creativity, and invaluable contributions to building our nation since the first African captives arrived in Jamestown, Virginia, in 1619.

We are seeking volunteers for our 2026 Celebration: 

Day 1: All About Black Women Symposium, Saturday, March 7, 2026.  

Day 2: Black Women Empowerment March, and Park Celebration at Marie  C. Widman Neighborhood Park, Sunday, March 8, 2026.
